Statement

I was born in conservatively moderate muslim family (I know its not a word, but lets say its similar to lower middle class but in religion). I was raised there. I never missed a jumma, never missed a fast or even taraweeh. I also went for hajj 3 years ago. Since I lived in different parts of the world, I was always open to learning more about different cultures, and I was also open to learning about information from people from different religious or non religious backgrounds. Anyways, I wouldn\'t have given up islam unless I didn\'t have seen it failing miserably at certain things. One of the biggest factor was when I realized that I am naturally gay, and there is absolutely no way I am turning otherwise. In fact I prayed really hard to allah on hajj that I turn straight. Then I heard cases of people\'s marriages breaking because of one of the two was homosexual. Anyways, learning about these occasional cases is something different, compared to when it happens to your close relative. Anyways, at that point I had to seriously question every single thing of my life whether it was true or false. Anyways, after help of a deist friend of mine, and going through about 6 months of emotional trauma, I decided to quit islam completely.
Anyways, although it was quiet relieving thing, but it wasn\'t easy for my family. My mother had to go through more than 1 and a half year of severe emotional trauma, and now that she understands the scientific reasons for my choice (like evolution or quranic faulty embryology) but still she is a muslim who prays 5 times a day and fast all ramadan as well as other nafil fasts.
Anyways, if you like to know more about me, I don\'t accept friend requests from strangers, but feel free to join my facebook group, \"Islam\'s Last Stand\", and we can talk more in detail.
