I am 50 years old, and live in PA, USA (greater Philadelphia). I left Islam 4 years ago, after a long journey (consisting of extensive research on Islam and its historical aspects, inconsistencies, translations of Islamic dogma, etc). This journey has lasted about 30 years. I have a family - a wife and 2 daughters. Daughters are leaning more towards my way of thinking, and my wife is marginally religious. My immediate family knows where I stand on religion but beyond that among Muslim relatives and friends, I decline to participate in religious activities and rituals but do not openly engage in conversations around religious topics nor openly state my position regarding Islam. This has of course strained my relationship with them. Outside of this group, I enjoy living life and engaging with secular people, and appreciate immensely the freedom from religious belief.
